Why Good things are DESTROYING Your Spiritual Life - The Drive Bible Podcast

Oct 3, 2026  •  Pastor Spencer Fusselman, Bob Huffman

You can't be a compass for others if your own needle is spinning out of control.

There is a massive difference between a sin and a weight.

In Hebrews 12:1, we are commanded to "lay aside every weight, AND the sin which so easily ensnares us." A sin is an outright violation of God's law. But a weight? A weight might be an innocent hobby, a secondary commitment, or a political obsession that is slowly draining your energy. You can't run a marathon wearing a 50-pound backpack, even if it's filled with "good things."

We are called to be a compass to those around us. But a compass can only point travelers in the right direction if its needle is magnetically locked to True North!

In this week's episode of The Drive Bible Podcast, Bob and Spencer explore how the "cloud of witnesses" acts as a compass to guide us, and how fixing our eyes on Christ calibrates our life to guide others.
